What is ECOCERT?

ECOCERT, founded in France, is the world’s leading organic certification organization. For over 30 years, it has promoted sustainable practices through certification, beginning with organic farming and expanding to cosmetics and skincare. ECOCERT ensures production processes respect the environment while maintaining high standards of product quality and safety.

One of ECOCERT’s key programs is COSMOS certification, which promotes environmentally and socially responsible practices. Applied to natural skincare brands, it guarantees:

  • Environmentally friendly production and processing

  • Responsible use of natural resources

  • Respect for biodiversity

  • No petrochemical ingredients – parabens, phenoxyethanol, synthetic fragrances, or colorants

  • GMO-free formulations

  • Recyclable packaging

COSMOS Natural

To get the COSMOS Natural label, a product’s ingredients must be primarily of natural origin, with only a small list of approved exceptions such as certain preservatives. On average, ECOCERT-certified products contain 99% natural ingredients. Most Beauty Nina face, hair, and body care products are Natural certified.

Face care: All categories carry Natural certification, from cleansing (Clarifying Gel, Purifying Mousse) to toning (Hydrating Toner, Purifying Toner). Goal-specific treatments like Hydrating Serum, Calming Eye Cream, Smoothing Eye Cream, Brightening Eye Cream, Caffeine Gel Booster, and Antioxidant Ginkgo Gel Booster are fully natural. Moisturisers include Moisturising Day Cream, Light Moisturising Day Cream, Anti-Age Day Cream, Nourishing Rich Cream, and Oil-Free Hydrating Gel. Sunscreen SPF30 and BB Cream complete the natural skincare ritual.

Hair care: Moisturising Shampoo, Nourish & Volumise Shampoo, and Moisturising Conditioner are Natural certified.

Body care: Moisturising Body Lotion, Hydrating Body Wash, Hydrating Hand Cream, and all Hand & Body Wash products carry the Natural label.

COSMOS Organic

A skincare product earns COSMOS Organic certification only if at least 95% of its plant ingredients are organic and a minimum of 20% of the total formula is organic (10% for rinse-off products). Water and minerals are not counted as organic since they are not agricultural ingredients.
